A month full of small business in motion

This one looks a little different than the past few weeks.
If you’ve been following along with our Spring into Local series, you’ve gotten used to sitting down with one business at a time. One story, one set of people, and a deeper look at what someone is pouring their heart and soul into right here in our community.
But when a fifth Tuesday rolls around, we do something different.
We zoom out.
Instead of one story, we take a look at what’s happening across Hunt County all at once: the events, the markets, the places where small businesses show up in real time, not just in story form.
April is full of places to go, people to meet, and small businesses to support.
If there’s one thing this next month does well, it’s give you a reason to get outside. The weather softens, the calendars fill up and everywhere you turn, someone is setting up a table, opening a booth, or inviting you to come see what they’ve been working on.
This isn’t just a busy month. It’s a month full of small business in motion.
Each event title and image will take you straight to the details if you want to learn more.
Greenville Swap Meet & Car Show

April kicks off big.
The Greenville Swap Meet has grown into one of the largest vendor events in Northeast Texas, with more than 200 vendor spaces filled with everything from antiques and tools to handmade goods and vintage finds. It’s the kind of place you go in without a list and leave with something you didn’t know you needed.
If you like digging through tables, wandering without a plan, and striking up conversations with the person who made what you’re holding, this is your kind of weekend.
April 2–4 | Hunt County Fairgrounds | Thurs 10 am–5 pm · Fri & Sat 8 am–5 pm
Spring Vendor Fair at Prairie Coffee Co.

The very next morning, things slow down in the best way.
Prairie Coffee Co. is hosting a Spring Vendor Fair alongside Wings and Faerie Dust Mobile Bookstore, bringing together a small group of local makers in a space that already feels like a community. Coffee in one hand, something handmade in the other.
It’s a smaller setting, but that’s exactly what makes it special. You actually get to talk to people, hear their stories, and remember their names.
April 4 | Downtown Greenville | 8 am–12 pm
Spring Workshops at Vintage & Lace

Vintage & Lace, one of our Founding Sponsors, is hosting a series of hands‑on creative workshops in their Greenville studio throughout April. Classes range from intro IOD transfer and paint‑inlay workshops to seasonal projects like painted wood eggs and moulded décor, all with supplies included and limited spots to keep things small and focused. Most sessions are held in the Vintage & Lace classroom at 2824 Terrell Road, Suite 800, in Greenville, and advance registration is required.
Greenville Farmers Market: Opening Day

This is where April really settles into its rhythm.
Opening Day of the Greenville Farmers Market is one of those moments that feels like the start of something, not just on the calendar, but in the community. Everything here is grown or made by the person standing behind the table. No reselling. No middleman. Just real people bringing what they’ve worked on.
You’ll find produce, baked goods, handmade items, and plenty of familiar faces if you come back week after week.
You should.
April 11 | Market Square (and every Saturday after) | 9 am–12 pm
Hat Painting Social at Landon Winery

If your Saturday leans more creative than market-browsing, Landon Winery with How Great Thou Art is hosting a Hat Painting Social that makes for a natural girls’ day, a date afternoon, or a solo reset you didn’t know you needed. You’ll design your own custom hat with guided instruction while sipping local wine. Everything is included with your ticket, but spots are limited and do need to be reserved in advance.
April 11 | Downtown Greenville | 1 pm
Worth the Drive: Holy Grounds Vendor Market

A short drive brings you to something a little different.
Holy Grounds is hosting a vendor market with an eco-conscious, intentional feel, the kind of place where you might walk away with something handmade and a new perspective on the person who made it. It’s still local. Still, small businesses. Just with its own personality.
April 11 | Royse City | 9 am–5 pm
Spring Weekends at Kadee Farm

If you’re looking for an easy way to get outside without going far, Kadee Farm is opening for spring weekends from March 28 through April 25. The farm is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays from 1 to 5 pm, giving families and friends plenty of time to wander, explore, and enjoy the flowers and fresh air. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, let the kids run, and grab a few photo‑worthy moments along the way.
March 28–April 25 | 5054 US‑69, Greenville | Sat 10 am–5 pm · Sun 1–5 pm
Bluebonnet Wine Glass Painting

Not everything this month is about shopping.
Some of it is about sitting down and making something yourself.
The Greenville Art League is hosting a Bluebonnet Wine Glass Painting class, guided by a local artist, Melissa Pendergraft. It’s beginner-friendly, all supplies are included, and you don’t have to think of yourself as “creative” to enjoy it. It’s just a few hours to slow down, follow along, and leave with something made by your own hands.
Spots are limited. Tickets need to be purchased in advance.
April 18 | W. Walworth Harrison Public Library, Greenville | 10 am
Red, White & Vroom Car Show

If your version of a good Saturday includes classic cars, community, and a little bit of noise, this one’s worth adding to your list.
The Red, White & Vroom Car Show is a free, family-friendly event with something for just about everyone. You’ll find local vendors, food trucks, live music, and a full kids zone with face painting, bounce houses, and even a touch-a-truck experience.
There’s also a car show with awards like Best of Show, People’s Choice, and Most Patriotic, plus a spot for the younger crowd with kiddie cars and power wheels welcome.
It’s one of those events where you can stay for a while, run into people you know, and let the kids burn some energy while you take it all in.
Even better, it’s all for a good cause, benefiting the Greenville Flags Project and the Hunt County Veterans Parade.
April 18 | Phillips Field, Greenville | 9:30 am–2:30 pm
Greenville Boutique & Gifts Spring Fashion Show & Luncheon

Greenville Boutique & Gifts is hosting a Spring Fashion Show and luncheon at The Oaks Country Club, featuring fresh spring looks, door prizes, and gift giveaways in a relaxed, social setting. Guests will enjoy a seated lunch while models showcase new-season outfits and accessories, making this a fun way to catch up with friends and get style ideas at the same time. Tickets are $25 dollars and are available in advance at Greenville Boutique & Gifts, located at 2903B Lee Street in downtown Greenville.
Saturday, April 18, 11:30 am–1 pm | The Oaks Country Club, 271 Jack Finney Blvd., Greenville
Hunt County Fair Vendor Market

And then April starts to build again.
The Hunt County Fair draws one of the largest crowds of the year, and with it comes a wide range of vendors, makers, and small businesses set up throughout the fairgrounds. If you’re looking to discover something new, or a lot of somethings new, this is where it happens. It’s busy, it’s loud, and it’s a reminder of just how many people are out here building something of their own.

Painted & Planted at Landon Winery

April wraps up on a softer note.

Where the stories show up in real life
Every one of these events looks a little different, but they all share the same thing at the heart of them. Someone showed up early, set up a table, and decided to put their work out into the world. When you show up too, that’s what keeps it going.
This roundup is a step back from the individual stories we’ve been sharing, but it’s really just the other side of the same coin. These are the places where those stories show up in real life.
Next week, we return to one story at a time. April is Blooming Local Talent, a month celebrating the creatives, makers, and people building something with their hands right here in Hunt County. We’re starting with Carmen Slagle of Slagle & Co. Woodworks, an artist whose journey began long before her business ever had a name, and whose work carries pieces of family, teaching, and community in every sign she creates.
If you missed any of our Spring into Local stories this month, you can catch up on them below.
