Halloween Week in Hunt County: Where to Go, What to Do & How to Celebrate Local

Halloween Week in Hunt County, Texas, featuring local events, trick-or-treaters and fall festivities October 28–31, 2026
Halloween Week in Hunt County brings together local events, family fun and community celebrations across the county from October 28–31.

Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, and Hunt County seems determined to make the most of it.

From dancing and celebrating with local first responders during the week to pumpkin patches, downtown festivals, trunk-or-treats, shopping, live music and even a true-crime speakeasy, there is a little bit of everything happening close to home.

So instead of one last Local Legend for October, I thought we would end the month by celebrating something else that makes our area special: all the places we have to gather.

Here is your guide to Halloween week around Hunt County.

Naomi Swanson of Zumba with Naomi is celebrating the 14th Annual Zumbaween, and longtime Local Letter readers may recognize Naomi from our August visit with Embody Wellness & Fitness.

This year Zumbaween is moving inside the gym at Greenville’s new SportsPark Center, which means more room to join in. Costumes are encouraged, the Halloween playlist will be ready, and yes, there will even be candy for those who want it.

It is a fun option for teens 16 and older and adults looking for a Halloween activity that involves a little more moving and a little less trick-or-treating.

And if you read our recent Local Legend feature on Amy Goodman Houser, this is another chance to see exactly what that story was about. Amy will be right in the middle of the Chamber events again, helping bring another big day together in Caddo Mills.

Halloween on the Square in Greenville

5:00–7:00 PM
Downtown Greenville
Free | Rain or shine

Halloween on the Square remains one of Greenville’s biggest Halloween traditions.

Families can trick-or-treat around the square, visit participating businesses and community organizations, enter the costume contest, enjoy Halloween music from the DJ and stop for photos along the way.

Terry Driggers, who we featured earlier this month as one of Hunt County’s Local Legends, is sponsoring this year’s costume contest. If you read Terry’s story, that probably won’t surprise you. Supporting local events and organizations has been part of his story for years.

While you’re downtown, make an evening of it. Grab dinner, coffee or something sweet before or after making your way around the square.

Events like this don’t just give us somewhere to take the kids. They give us another reason to walk into a business we may not have visited before.

Halloween for the Grown-Ups

If your idea of Halloween leans more true crime than trick-or-treating, The Landmark has something completely different happening this week.

The Serial Killer Speakeasy is a 90-minute immersive experience pairing four true-crime stories with four themed cocktails.

The evening explores Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy and Ed Gein, with a cocktail created around each story. Mocktails are also available by request.

The experience is for guests 21 and older, and current tickets begin at $55.

Still Need a Pumpkin?

Kadee Farm

5054 Highway 69 South, Greenville
Saturday: 10:00 AM–7:00 PM

There is something about Halloween weekend that makes you suddenly realize you never bought the pumpkin.

Kadee Farm has been part of the Greenville area’s fall traditions for years. The family-owned farm began its annual Pumpkin Festival in 2001 and continues to turn the property into a fall destination each year.

Families can find pumpkins, farm animals, hayrides, outdoor activities and plenty of places for those last fall photos.

Admission is $10 per person, with children ages 3 and under free.

If you haven’t made it to a pumpkin patch yet this season, Halloween weekend is a pretty good excuse.

Pick Your Halloween

One of the things I like most about this list is that there isn’t really one way to do Halloween in Hunt County this year.

You can spend the week with a few familiar faces we’ve met through The Local Letter, find Amy helping make another Caddo Mills event happen, or see Terry’s name attached to another Greenville tradition.

You can spend Saturday afternoon shopping from area vendors, decorate a pumpkin, take little ones to a Trunk or Treat, fill a candy bag downtown, listen to live music, dance your way through a Halloween workout or spend an evening immersed in true crime.

And somewhere in between all of that, grab lunch from a local restaurant, stop for coffee, browse a vendor booth or walk into a downtown shop you’ve been meaning to visit.

The people, businesses and organizations behind these events are our neighbors. They are giving their time, opening their doors and creating the places where our communities get to come together. This week is a good opportunity to show them some support and appreciation for what they continue to do for Hunt County.

And after spending October meeting a few of our Local Legends, I keep coming back to one thought:

These are exactly the kinds of places where local legends are made.

There are probably people in these crowds, behind these booths and helping with these events whose stories we haven’t heard yet.

We just haven’t met them.

Happy Halloween, Hunt County.
